About this site and who publishes it

Who publishes Treasure Coast Mushrooms, how the pages are researched and checked, and why the product links on this site go to the Dutch smartshop Dutch-Smart.

Updated

Treasure Coast Mushrooms is published by the team behind the Dutch smartshop Dutch-Smart. Dutch-Smart sells the Treasure Coast grow kit and spores shown on this site, and every product link goes to that shop. When you buy through such a link, the shop earns from the sale.

We say this first because it affects how you read the rest. The site exists because most of what is online about this cultivar repeats the same few lines, sometimes with the coast on the wrong side of Florida. We wanted one place that keeps the shipwreck history, the wild mushroom and the cultivar apart, gives sources, and says plainly what is not known: that nobody can name the original collector, that no lab has measured the cultivar, and that Florida itself banned selling spores in 2025.

How the pages are made

  • History comes from NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory and other public sources; the wild records from herbarium specimens published through the Global Biodiversity Information Facility.
  • Chemistry and genetics come from peer-reviewed studies, each linked where we use it.
  • Legal statements come from the Florida Statutes, the Florida Supreme Court, US federal regulations, Dutch, British and German legislation and the Trimbos Institute. Every legal page carries the date it was checked.
  • Shop descriptions are quoted as Dutch-Smart's descriptions and marked as such.
  • We do not publish invented testimonials, reviews or experiences.
  • We make no medical or health claims of any kind, and we give no dosage instructions.

Pages show when they were last updated. Laws change and products sell out; if something here is wrong or out of date, Dutch-Smart's customer service can pass it on to us.

The shop behind the site

The Dutch-Smart mascot, a cheering lion

Dutch-Smart is a Dutch smartshop, established in 2011, that ships from the Netherlands and sells only to adults. Grow kits and spores are legal to buy in the Netherlands; the law where you live decides whether you may order, import or grow them. Read the law page for Florida, the United States, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Germany.
